According to the statement, President Buhari gave the orders in Awka on Wednesday.

Adesina said Obiano had, while receiving Buhari on arrival at Awka for the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Rally, complained to the President about the withdrawal of his security aides.

Following the governor’s plea, the President directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), Mr. Joshak Habila, to ensure the immediate reinstatement of the governor’s security aides.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the reinstatement of the security aides of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State.

“While welcoming the President on arrival Wednesday in Awka for the Grand Finale of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Rally, the governor had complained about the withdrawal of his security aides.”

This comes hours after the Senate ordered Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to ensure that Obiano’s security aides were reinstated by Thursday.

The lawmakers took turns to condemn the police boss for claiming that the security men were withdrawn to allow a level playing field for all contestants in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.

Recall that the IG on Tuesday withdrew the governor’s ADC and other security aides, noting that it was to prevent a re-occurrence of past experience.
