A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, to immediately vacate his position as governor of the state.

The court, presided by Justice Okon Abang, ordered that he vacate office for submitting false information to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during the party’s gubernatorial primaries in December 2014.

In his judgment on Monday, Justice Abang ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue a certificate of return to the plaintiff, Uche Ogah, who polled the second highest number of votes in the primary.
