BREAKING: Ex-Police IG, Ibrahim Coomassie, Is Dead

Former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Coomassie, has reportedly passed away at the Katsina Orthopaedic Hospital on Thursday.

Commassie, who was the Inspector General of Police from 1993 to 1999, reportedly died in the evening hours of today.

The late police chief, aged 72, had served under the military regimes of former Head of State, General Sani Abacha and General Abdulrahman Abubakar.

Coomassie, who was appointed Inspector General in 1993, was at the helm of police affairs when former president-elect, Chief Moshood Abiola, was arrested, detained and maltreated until his death in prison in 1998.
