BREAKING: Joshua Dariye Bags 14-yr Jail Term

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja, has convicted a former Governor of Plateau State Senator Joshua Dariye, over corruption charges.

Justice Adebukola Banjoko sentenced the serving senator to two-years in prison for criminal misappropriation and 14 years for criminal breach of trust.

All charges are to run concurrently without any option of fine.

Mr Dariye is found guilty of 15 of the 23-count bordering on criminal breach of trust, punishable under sections 315 and 309 of the Penal Code Act, respectively.

He was also found guilty of dishonesty and diversion of funds meant for ecological needs of Plateau State.

The defence counsel, Paul Erokor (SAN), pleaded for mercy on behalf of his client, but counsel to the ‎Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), opposed the plea and asked the court to impose the maximum sentence.
