The crisis rocking the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seems to be getting to a head as heavily armed policemen early Sunday evening took over the national secretariat of the party.

The police detachment comprising five APC, two pick up vans and a Toyata sedan blocked access on both end of the street directly in front of the secretariat, while another set blocked the entry into the secretariat.

The PDP on Saturday had three factions emerging with Senator Ahmed Markafi emerging as chairman of the mainstream, while Prof. Jerry Gana and Senator Ibrahim Mantu as co-chairmen of the Concerned PDP stakeholders group, and interim chairman who was sacked by the Port Harcourt convention Senator Ali Modu Sheriff insisting he remains in office as chairman.

Efforts to get the police spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, to react to the development did not go through as her phone remained engaged as at the time of going to press.
