Breaking: Senate Suspends Ali Ndume Over False Allegation Against Saraki, Melaye

The Nigerian Senate, on Wednesday, suspended former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume for six months over false allegation he levelled aagainst the Senate President Bukola Saraki and Senator Representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Dino Melaye.

The suspension follows the report of the senate committee on Public Petitions, Ethics and Privileges, led by Senator Samuel Anyanwu set up to probe the allegations.

The committee in its report following its investigation which cleared the duo of wrongdoings, recommended that Ndume be suspended for one legislative year.

Recall that Ndume called for the probe of the senate president after a publication in national dailies reported that “the Senate President, Bukola Saraki bought SUV bullet proof Jeep worth N370 million without paying it’s Custom duties.”

He also called for the investigation of Senator Dino Melaye claiming that he (Melaye) did not graduate from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria as claimed by an online newspaper.

The plenary presided by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu as Saraki had to step down since he was involved for fairness discussed extensively and having weighed options resolved that Ndume be suspended.
