Buhari Congratulates Angela Merkel On 4th Term Re-election As German Chancellor

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday, joined world leaders in felicitating with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel on her re-election for fourth term.

President Buhari hailed Merkel’s party, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), for producing the country’s principal in the past 12 years.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the president wished Chancellor Merkel another thriving term in office.

The German Chancellor, after her electoral victory, had promised to listen to the “concerns, worries and anxieties” of voters of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in order to win them back.

“Today we can say that we now have a mandate to assume responsibility and we’re going to assume this responsibility calmly, talking with our partners of course,” she said.
