The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), on Thursday evening, refuted reports published by some sections of the media, stating that it’s Group Management Director, Dr Ibe Kachikwu has been replaced.
Online media had on Thursday, reported that Kachikwu who also doubles as the Minister of State Petroleum has been replaced by a Group Executive Director of the corporation, Maikanti Baru.
The report had read, “The President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has replaced Dr Ibe Kachikwu as the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
“Kachikwu may have been removed from the post to pave way for him to face the state duties, especially in the wake of the unending fuel crisis in the country”.
But in a reaction, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, Garba Deen Muhammad, said no change has been made.
“Not true. Just baseless rumour. People should be careful what they pick up from junk social media platforms,” he said.
