President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, said that the economic recession that has plagued Nigeria for some time now is coincidental with assumption of the APC government into office.
Buhari, who admitted that the current economic hardship is the most biting one in the history of Nigeria, also acknowledged that women would be more at the receiving end as managers of resources for families.
The President disclosed this at the 32nd Annual National Conference of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association (FOMWAN) in Lagos.
He was represented by the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.
“We wish to admit that the period of economic hardship that has coincided with our assumption of office till date, is a most demanding one,” Buhari said.
“It, therefore, implies that the impact would be more on women, as managers of resources for families.
“I urge you not to despair, but pray and trust in almighty Allah, the only one that can guarantee the safe berthing of ships, irrespective of any turbulence,’’ he added.
