Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, has joined the list of notable Nigerians who claim to have spoken on phone with President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on medical leave in London.

Masari, who spoke with the Voice of America, VOA, Hausa, reassured Nigerians that President Buhari was “hale and hearty”.

“On Saturday, I spoke with the president on phone, he is hale and hearty. All those castigating rumors on the health condition of the president should think twice and change their mindset,” the governor said.

“The president is on vacation for medical check-up which is in line with the Nigerian constitution where he assigned all the responsibility to his vice at full autonomy pending when he comes back.

“Therefore, the president did not break any law by leaving for medical vacation. Last Wednesday, I called the Emir of Daura and that of Katsina directing them to engage in special prayers for the president, which they did during Friday session prayers.

“We will not stop praying for the president, we shall keep praying till Almighty Allah answers our prayers. Praying for a leader is a mandate to every Nigerian irrespective of religion. Both scriptures direct us to pray for our leaders.”

It would be recalled that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, amongst others, claimed to have spoken with the president on Wednesday during a prayer session.

THE WHISTLER further recalls that President Buhari, who departed Nigeria on January 19th, 2017 for the United Kingdom on a medical vacation, had extended his leave for the second time in quick successions without giving specific date of return.

The President first sought extension of his vacation on the 5th of February when he wrote to the National Assembly, notifying them of his need of more time to address his health issues.
