Buhari Heads For Gambia To Beg President Jammeh To Concede Defeat

President Muhammadu Buhari is set for a trip to Gambia alongside President Ellen Sirleaf of Liberia to beg Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh, to concede defeat.

This was disclosed, Monday, by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Mallam Garba Shehu.

The Presidential aide told newsmen that “there is diplomacy going on” to resolve the political bottleneck being experienced in Gambia.

It would be recalled that President Jammeh had earlier conceded defeat to opposition candidate Adama Barrow.

But in a shocking twist, Jammeh later made a U-turn to reject the election results, adding that the Gambia electoral commission would have to conduct fresh election.
