Buhari ‘Phones’ Chief Akande Over Wife’s Death

President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with founding chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief Bisi Akande, over the death of his wife Omowunmi.

Madam Omowunmi Akande died on Tuesday at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo state, at the age of 73.

In a statement released by the Presidency, Mr. Buhari called Chief Akande before sending a letter of condolence to the APC chieftain.

Buhari’s letter comes same day Acting President Yemi Osinbajo went on a condolence visit to Ila-Orangun, Osun State to commiserate with Chief Akande.

I received the very sad news of the death of your dearly beloved wife, Madam Omowunmi Akande this morning. I am following our phone call with this letter of condolence, which comes from my heart.

To lose a wife, a dear wife of 50 years, a constant and loving companion through good and bad times, is a blow only a man of unshakeable faith can withstand. Please extend my personal condolences to the immediate and wider Akande family and to friends of the family for this irreparable loss.

May Allah give you the strength and Iman to endure her passing away.

Omowunmi and Bisi Akande got married 51 years ago, with the marriage blessed with several children.

Among the children of the couple are Wuraola Solabi who married in June this year in Ibadan and Osun state commissioner for health, Temitope Ilori.
