The federal government of Nigeria has rejected a proposed reward package by the Ministry of Sports for the victorious Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, saying it’s too outrageous, sources at the Presidency have revealed.
It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari said that the nation’s economy is broke, and it cannot afford unnecessary expenditure.
A source who pleaded anonymity said: “The proposal sent to the presidency on what should be given by government as reward to the Eaglets following their victory in Chile has been rejected. Government said it does not reflect the current economic realities.”
Also, the team’s proposed hosting by the President at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock on November 29th has been cancelled.
