Buhari Sympathises With ‘Flood Ravaged’ Benue, Pledges FG’s Support

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his sympathies to the Government and people of Benue State over the recent flooding which affected thousands of homes and displaced more than 100,000 persons.

Buhari in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, assured the people of the state of Federal Government’s assistance to the affected communities.

The President further directed the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to “immediately mobilize personnel and resources to come to the aid of the victims of the flooding”.

Over 110,000 people in 24 communities, including Makurdi, the state capital, have been displaced by flood, according to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says.

Bonaiface Ortese, executive secretary of SEMA told NAN that over 2, 769 households were also affected.
