Buhari’s Response To Obasanjo ‘Insult To Nigerians’ – Junaid Mohammed

Second Republic Governor of Kaduna State, Junaid Mohammed, has described as “insult to Nigerians”, President Muhammadu Buhari’s response to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s contentious letter.

Obasanjo, it would be recalled, had in an 18-page epistle accused President Buhari of nepotism and gross incompetence among other off-putting remarks.

The Buhari administration had consequently responded through the Minister of Information, Alh. Lai Mohammed, saying the criticism at this time were distractions for the president.

In his reaction, however, Junaid said the suggestion that Obasanjo was too busy to notice the works being done by the Buhari administration “is a collective insult to the intelligence of Nigerians.”

He said, “A man like Obasanjo cannot be said by the Federal Government to be too busy to notice what is being done by the government.

“This can never be a defence for the irresponsibility and corruption in the Federal Government.

“Also, Obasanjo spoke about specific issues. One of them was the issue of nepotism, which was earlier observed by me in at least 10 appointments by the Federal Government; that issue was not addressed, there has been no answer from the government.

“I can name several appointments in the government’s circle which were not based on merit but on some other considerations. You do not confront facts by lying about them,” he told Punch.
