There are strong indications that President Muhammadu Buhari plans to sack no fewer than ten non performing members of his cabinet.

It was gathered that while some ministers will be sacked, others would be asked to swap portfolios at the turn of the New Year.

The Whistler gathered that Buhari will use the opportunity of the cabinet rejig to fill two existing vacancies which included that created by former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, James Ocholi’s death and the appointment of Minister of Environment, Mrs. Amina Mohammed as the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN).

“There is an understanding that in the new year, one of the key assignments the Senate will undertake, aside from the consideration of the 2017 budget, is the screening of new ministerial nominees who will be replacing some of the ministers that will soon be asked to leave the cabinet,” a source close to the Presidency and the National Assembly who pleaded anonymity said.
