CAF Awards: Enyeama, Musa, Missing In Final 10

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has shortlisted the final 10 players for the 2015 Glo/CAF African Player of the Year award with no Nigerian on the list.

The list, which was comprised of 23 players have now been trimmed to 10 after the announcement on CAF’s website, late Tuesday.

Former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama and the new captain Ahmed Musa, who were on the 23 man list, have been ousted.

Nigeria also missed out on the best ten African players playing in Africa.

The list of top ten nominees include Andre Ayew of Ghana and Swansea FC, Aymen Abdennor of Tunisia and FC Valence of Spain, Modather Al Tayeb of Sudan and Al Hilal FC OF Sudan, Mohamed Salah of Egypt and AS Roma of Italy, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Borrussia Dortmund of Germany and Sadio Mane of Senegal and Southampton of England.
Others are Serge Aurier of Cote d’Ivoire and Paris St Germain of France, Sofiane Feghouli of Algeria and FC Valence of Spain, Yacine Brahimi of Algeria and FC Porto of Portugal and Yaya Toure of Cote d’ Ivoire and Manchester City of England.

In the African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) category, the ten shortlisted players are Abdeladim Khadrouf of Morocco, Baghdad Bounedjah of Algeria and Etoile Sportive Sahel of Tunisia, Felipe Ovono of Equatorial Guinea and Orlando Pirates of South Africa, Kermit Erasmus of South Africa and Orlando Pirates, Mbwana Aly Samatta of Tanzania and TP Mazembe of Congo DR, Mohamed Meftah of Algeria and USM Alger of Algeria, Modather Al Tayeb of Sudan and Al Hilal, Robert Kidiaba Muteba of Congo DR and TP Mazembe, Robert Assale of Cote d’ Ivoire and Sewe Sports and Zinnedine Ferhat  of Algeria and USM Alger.

Winners for the two categories; African Player of the Year 2015 and African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) 2015 will be decided by votes of the Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.

The awards will be held on the 7th of January, 2016 in Abuja.
