Nigeria and English Premier League sensations, Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City) and Alex Iwobi (Arsenal) have been shortlisted for individual awards at the upcoming Glo-CAF awards gala, slated for i 5 January, 2017, in Abuja.
Iheanacho was nominated in the Most Promising player of the Year category alongside, former Nigeria U23 captain. Oghenekaro Etebor.
Iwobi features in the Youth Player of the Year category. The 20-year-old will face stiff competition from Cote d’Ivoire’s Frank Kessie, Ghana’s Eric Ayiah, Mali’s Sidiki Maiga and Ghana women’s Sandra Owusu-Ansah.
Also, Super Falcons’ forward, Asisat Oshoala, was nominated for the Women’s Player of the Year category.
The Arsenal Ladies forward was listed alongside Ghana’s Elizabeth Addo, Cameroon’s Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene, Janine Van Wyk of South Africa and Raissa Feudjio Tchuanyo are also in the mix for the women’s award.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday, 5 January 2017.
