CAF U-20 Cup Of Nations: Amuneke Names Squad For Burundi Clash

Flying Eagles head coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has released a list of 18-players for Saturday’s 2017 CAF U-20 Cup of Nations qualifying match against Burundi in Bujumbura.

According to the list released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Abuja on Tuesday, the team is dominated by the FIFA U-17 World Cup team, with 15 of the 18-man squad.

Arsenal’s Kenneth Nwakali, Wolfsburg forward Victor Osimhen and FIFA U-17 Bronze Boot winner Samuel Chukwueze top the list of players for the encounter.

Others include, goalkeeper Akpan Udoh, defenders Ejike Ikwu, John Lazarus and Udochukwu Anumudu, midfielders Orji Okonkwo and Kingsley Michael and forwards Chukwudi Agor and Chinedu Madueke.

The team is expected to fly out of Abuja aboard an Ethiopian Airline plane on Wednesday, the team Secretary Aliyu Ibrahim said.

Nigeria and Burundi clash in a second round, first leg qualifying tie at the Prince Louis Stadium in Bujumbura on Saturday, the winner of the game on aggregate will face Sudan in the final qualifying round to book a place in the competition.

The 2017 CAF U-20 Cup of Nations is billed for 26 February – 12 march 2017 in Zambia.

Nigeria won the last edition in 2015, which was stage in Senegal.
