The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has discontinued power supply to the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its failure to offset an accumulated debt of about N1.7 million.

Despite generating well over N100 million from the sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms from the Edo and Ondo states governorship primaries, the party has been unable to foot its electricity bills.

The management of the secretariat is now forced to run the office block on generator from staff contributions as the embarrassing incident has reportedly lingered for about two weeks now.

THE WHISTLER recalls that the Minister of Power, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, who is also a chieftain of APC, had emphatically said that every government and political institutions must pay their electricity bills if private investors must make profits from their investments.
