Charly Boy Group Suspends Anti-Buhari Protest

Speaking at the Unity Fountain in Abuja on Wednesday, Charly Boy said the group will not be deterred by threats they have received. They have been protesting for about nine days.

He told the group that the next line of action will be communicated to them in the coming days.

The group had launched the ‘Resume or Resign’ campaign against President Muhmmadu Buhari who has been on medical vacation in London for about 101 days today.

“We are not deterred by the intimidation and harassment by the sponsored thugs and we cannot be cowed by a few group of people,” he said.

“What government want to do is to ensure that we have a clash with the hired crowd and we will not allow that to happen.”

The group was reportedly attacked by hoodlums after their entrance into the market and gun shots were heard in the chaos that ensued.

Confirming the Abuja attack, leader of the ‘Concerned Nigerians’ group, Deji Adeyanju, via his Twitter account (@adeyanjudeji), had said, “We just went to Wuse market for mobilization against 100 days event tomorrow & a regular face at Unity Fountain brought thugs to attack us.”

Although Charly Boy escaped, his car was damaged. A man who was injured was rushed to the hospital by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Buhari is the first Nigerian president to have spent over 100 days in a year outside the country. He had earlier spent 49 days in the UK.
