The people of Umuneke community, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu, have disowned former governor, Sullivan Chime over his case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Chime has been advised by his kinsmen to stop bringing shame on their community and face his case with the EFCC.

This was the resolution reached yesterday, Saturday, as six villages making up the community converged on Udi Square to state their grievances against the former governor.

Chime, at the meeting, was accused of neglecting his people during his eight years rule as governor.

The kinsmen further made known their resolution not to quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the former governor is believed to be perfecting plans to join another political party.

“It is a major regret and shame to say the last governor, who comes from this clan never believed that he is from Udi. He did nothing for his people. You cannot believe that from Nnachi to Udi, we do not have a bank. Udi used to have a bank in the 80’s. It is a shame that the hospital in Udi is still the same way it has been since the 70’s,” a former member of the House of Representatives for Udi/Ezeagu constituency, Chief Tony Gary Eneh, told journalists after the meeting on Saturday.

“The only secondary school that is here was built in the 70’s and our brother, who was there, did nothing to restructure and equip the place. Is it not a shame that the current governor is the one rehabilitating schools in Udi, when our son left there less than two years ago?

“So, if he has a case with the EFCC, let him go and face it. It is not our matter and he will not receive our support. Six months before he left office, he called a meeting of Udi stakeholders and said it will not take him six months to rectify what he didn’t do in eight years. He said he was going to install a governor, who will do his bidding.

“Suddenly, after using the party to enjoy himself, he wants to rush into another party. What is he going there to do? Who went there to declare with him? If he behaved himself, everybody in Udi would have identified with him now. As far as Umuneke is concerned, it is a shame to have him as governor,” he said.
