Both teams, have met twice in the last six seasons, with Barcelona progressing on both occasions, Wenger’s men also suffered another defeat to Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League final in Paris.

Wenger said: “It’s our best chance no matter how big the chance is. We have to take it and have a go at them. I believe in these big games, in the first tie at home, we can’t be stupid.

“Many times we’ve won away and at home we have conceded. We have to find the right balance between being audacious but also strong defensively as a unit and not put ourselves in a difficult task in the second leg.

“We did well to qualify, it was very hard, we are looking forward to playing Barcelona they are the best team in the world today.

On how to stop the Barcelona attacking trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar, the boss added: “I know that individually MSN have exceptional talent, the only way we can beat them is collectively.

“Resilient, great solidarity intelligent as well, let’s not forget that we have a good defensive record and a great goalkeeper as well.”
