Court Gives Fayose Go-Ahead To Probe Buhari’s Minister

Minister of Mines and Steel, Kayode Fayemi, has failed to stop a judicial panel set up by Governor Ayo Fayose to probe his administration as Ekiti State governor.

Fayemi had, in suit number HAD/57/2017, filed an application to restrain the judicial commission from probing his tenure of alleged diversion of N852 million Universal Basic Education (UBE) Board fund.

But the minister’s application for an interim order was on Tuesday thrown out by an Ado-Ekiti High Court.

Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, in his ruling, turned down Mr. Fayemi and his co-defendants’ application on the account that the accused already challenged the court’s competence to hear the suit by the Ekiti State government.

The court, while granting Fayemi’s request for accelerated hearing, however said both the State Government’s suit and the minister’s preliminary objection would be taken on July 31 as adjourned.

Fayemi had named the Ekiti State Governor, Attorney General, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Justice Silas Oyewole (panel chairman), Mr. Gbemiga Adaramola, Mrs. Bolawale Awe, Mr. Idowu Ayenimo, Mr. Omodara Vincent, Mr. Adesoba Oluremi and Mr. Sunday Bamise (panel members) as defendants in his suit.
