Court Remands 3 In Prison For Alleged Gang-Rape Of 14-Year-Old

Ekiti State added to her rape statistics yesterday, as an Ado-Ekiti magistrate remanded 3 men in prison custody for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl.

According to a statement by Police prosecutor, Sergeant Oriyomi Akinwale, the tragic event took place in Odo Ado area of Ado-Ekiti on January the 29 at about 9.00PM, as the victim went on an errand for her parents.

The girl was reportedly seized by the three accused men named, Samuel Farotimi, Sunday Ajimoko, and Sunday Ilugbo, aged 27, 40, and 30 respectively, who took turns to rape the young girl, leaving her with psychological and physical trauma.

In recent time, many rape cases have been reported in the State, such as the October 13 rape incident reported by Vanguard and another involving a 19-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman on the 16th of July 2016.

The magistrate, Mrs Dolapo Akosile adjourned the court sitting to March 14 to enable the Directorate of Public Prosecution prepare their case against the accused who are facing two count charges of conspiracy and rape. The actions of the accused contravenes Sections 33 and 31(2) of the Child’s Right Law of Ekiti State Cap C7.
