A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sacked the elected president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Abubakar Mahmoud.
The Court, while giving the order on Thursday following a suit filed by Supo Ojo, a lawyer, voided the 2015 constitution of the association.
Recall that Abubakar Mahmoud who took over leadership from Augustine Alegeh as the 33rd president, was elected in July 2016 on the strength of the voided constitution.
The latest development implies that all appointments he has made are invalid and his recommendation of senior lawyers to the National Judicial Council (NJC) for appointment as judges is now invalid.
The NBA is yet to issue a statement on the development.
