After Court’s Proscription Of IPOB, IGP Idris Storms Abia

Barely 24 hours after a federal high court in Abuja proscribed the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), declaring their activities as “illegal”, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, is currently on his way to Umuahia, the Abia State Capital, to monitor activities of the members of the group.

It was gathered that the IGP will visit Aba, where a police station was allegedly razed down by suspected IPOB members.

He is also expected to hold series of meetings with police personnel on general security in the state.

According to Daily Sun, the police chief might declare the leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, wanted following the court order.

It was however learnt that the arrest of Kanu may be delayed for now to avoid tension which is already rife in the region.

When asked for an official statement on the alleged arrest of Nnamdi kanu, the police Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said “I don’t understand what you mean by looking for Nnamdi Kanu. For anybody that has committed an offence, he is liable for arrest and prosecution.”
