Ebola-Like Virus Hits Uganda

A virus similar to the dreaded Ebola hemorrhagic fever has hit Uganda.

Uganda’s Health Minister, Jane Aceng told journalists in Kampala on Thursday that one case of Marburg virus was recorded in the East African country.

Aceng said the victim, a 50-year old woman, died in a Ugandan hospital on October 11 after exhibiting “signs and symptoms suggestive of viral hemorrhagic fevers.”

The minister revealed that the victim’s 42-year old brother had died on September 25 after showing similar signs and symptoms.
