Against EFCC Claim, Ex-SGF Anyim Pius Still In Custody

Contrary to reports in some sections of the media, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Ayim Pius Ayim, is still in custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Reports had emerged early Thursday, suggesting that Mr. Anyim had regained his freedom after spending days in captivity of the EFCC.

Punch had quoted a source in the EFCC as saying, “Anyim was released on administrative bail after he had surrendered his passport. He is expected to return some money to the EFCC and also report back every two weeks.”

But findings by The Whistler indicate that the former SGF is still very much in the confinement of the anti-graft agency.

The EFCC is accusing Mr Anyim of involving in an alleged N520 million contract scam.

The anti-corruption agency equally accused the ex-SGF of false assets declaration.
