EFCC Declares Maina Wanted Over Pension N2.8 Billion

The noose tightened round the embattled former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, declared him wanted over pension fraud allegations.

Spokesperson of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the development, said the anti-graft agency had have already secured an arrest warrant against the former pension boss.

He said the warrant will enable the commission to arrest Mr. Maina “wherever he is in the world”.

Penultimate week, the anti-graft agency had arrested two bankers with Fidelity Bank who allegedly aided Maina to launder stolen funds put at about N2.8 billion.

Those arrested include Danjuma Zubairu, Group Head of Private Banking, and Abubakar Gwambe, an account head.

It was learnt that the duo were managing proxy accounts for Mr. Maina, a source stated.

The former PRTT boss is currently on the run after the EFCC filed charges against him for stealing billions of naira through a phony biometric exercise alongside Steve Oronsaye, the former Head of Service of the Federation.
