Europa League: Arsenal Draw CSKA Moscow, Atletico Face Sporting Lisbon In Q/finals

English Premier League side Arsenal will face Russian club CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal.

The Gunners will host the first leg at Emirates Stadium on 5 April with the return leg in Moscow a week later.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still ineligible to feature even though his former club Borussia Dortmund, are no longer in the competition. Aubameyang couldn’t be registered for his new club in the competition as Dortmund dropped into the Europa League after failing to qualify from their Champions League group.

CSKA Moscow showed their qualities in the last round, stunning the French side Lyon with a 3-2 away win in the second leg at the stadium where this season’s Europa League final will take place.

Ahmed Musa, who’s on loan from Leicester City, was one of the goalscorers.

CSKA are currently third in the Russian Premier League, eight points behind the leaders Lokomotiv Moscow, who exited the competition at the expense of Atletico Madrid on Thursday night.

One of the strongest sides left in the competition, Atletico Madrid, who are second in La Liga, face Sporting Lisbon of Portugal.

Diego Simeone’s men progressed to the quarter-finals in some style after dispatching Lokomotiv Moscow 8-1 on aggregate.

In the other ties Germany’s RB Leipzig play Marseille from France, while Italian club Lazio face Salzburg of Austria

The Europa League quarterfinal first legs will be played on April 5, with the second legs held the following week on April 12.
