Everton Appoint David Unsworth As Interim Manager

English Premier League club Everton, on Tuesday, appointed David Unsworth to take temporary charge of the senior team following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

Unsworth, who was a former Everton defender made 314 appearances for the club in two stints, scoring 40 goals and until his appointment as an interim coach was the club’s under-23 manager.

“Everton Football Club can confirm that David Unsworth will take temporary charge of the Everton first team, commencing with Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie at Stamford Bridge.” the club said on their official Website and Twitter account.

The Goodison Park based club sacked Dutchman Koeman on Monday after they dropped into the Premier League relegation zone following Sunday’s humiliating 5-2 home defeat by Arsenal.

44-year-old Unsworth’s first task will be to take Everton to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
