Ex-SSS Spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar, Knows Fate Over ‘Forced Exit’ Oct 15

Come October 15, a former spokesperson of the State Security Service, though the Service prefers Department of State Security, Ms. Marilyn Ogar, will know her fate over her forced retirement.

This is coming on the heels of the National Industrial Court, Abuja, announcing on Monday that it has fixed October 15 to deliver judgment in a suit filed by Ogar challenging her compulsory retirement.

Counsels had adopted their submissions on Monday before Justice Olufunke Anuwe, who then fixed the date.

Ms Ogar’s counsel, Adeola Adedipe, had prayed the court to among other things, declare that her retirement was illegal and nullify her demotion from deputy director to assistant director.

Counsel to the AGF, Uche Anidobi, on her part, asked the court to discountenance the prayers of the claimant and dismiss the suit for lack of merit.

In his submission, Jamilu Hamisu, counsel to the DSS, prayed the court to strike out the matter for being “unmeritorious”.

Ogar had joined the Attorney- General of the Federation (AGF) and the Director-General of the DSS, Lawal Daura, in the suit.

In 2015, 14 senior officers were compulsorily retired including Ms Ogar.
