Ezekwesili Tackles Buhari Over Another Suspected B/Haram Schoolgirls Kidnap

Former Minister of Education and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, Oby Ezekwesili, has tackled the President Muhammadu Buhari over a suspected kidnap of 94 female students of Government Secondary School Dapchi, Yobe State, by Boko Haram insurgents.

Reports had emerged that the 94 schoolgirls were missing after an alleged invasion of the school on Monday evening by suspected members of the dreaded terrorist sect.

The Yobe state Police Commissioner, Mr Summonu Abdulmaliki, had on Tuesday refuted reports of the schoolgirls abduction, saying investigation would be launched into the matter to unravel where the report was emanating from.

But reacting via her Twitter page on Wednesday, Ezekwesili expressed fears that the Chibok experience of four years ago may have repeated itself.

She hoped that the story of the new kidnap would not turn out to be true as seen when about 276 female students were kidnapped from their hostels in Chibok, Borno State, some years back.

Tweeting, Ezekwesili said, “God forbids that we are indeed missing daughters who went to school once again. God forbids that anything resembling a re-enactment of the torture of the nearly four years of our #ChibokGirlsTragedy has happened to Nigeria. Ah. God forbids this evil in our land a second time.

“God forbids that nothing was at all learned in all these years #ChibokGirls on how FG should transparently engage the Public on matters like the allegations flying about on Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi Yobe State after a Boko Haram attack.

“God forbids that Aso Rock, Buhari & Nigerian Army continue to keep the Public in suspense any further on what really happened two days ago at the Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi Yobe State following a reported Boko Haram attack. #NotAgain,” she added.
