FA Cup: Chelsea Cruise Past Youthful City

Chelsea cruised into the quarterfinal of the FA Cup, with a 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City fielded a youthful side, as they had an eye on Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Dynamo Kiev.

Manuel Pellegrini named five youngsters, who made their debut for the club, as they were exposed by a revived Chelsea side, who pitilessly demolished the visitors.

Diego Costa put the home side in front in the 35th minute, before young French striker David Faupala – who made his first Manchester City debut made it 1-1 in the first half.

Chelsea’s experience was told during the second half as Willian put the home side ahead within three minutes into the second half, before Cahill gave made it three, giving the Blues a two- goal advantage.

Eden Hazard made it four in the 67th minute, before substitute Bertrand Traore completed the scoring, as Guus Hiddink’s men stretched their domestic unbeaten run to 13.

Chelsea travel to Everton in the sixth round.
