Facebook Now Lets You Post Video On Comment Section

Beginning today, Facebook users will now be allowed to upload videos in the comments section of posts.

The camera button at the end of the comments field will now show you an option to upload a photo or video. With the introduction of this feature, Facebook users now get an additional option to comment with, including the pre-existing options of text, photos, stickers, and emojis.

This new feature is now available on Android, iOS, and Web users globally. The feature is also available within groups and events.

According to Facebook engineer Bob Baldwin, the feature was built during Facebook’s 50th hackathon in February this year.

Baldwin wrote: “At Facebook’s 50th Hackathon early this year, we prototyped the ability to upload a video into comments and replies on posts, because we wanted to enable more engaging and immersive conversations. This adds to the suite of multimedia features within comments including: links, photos, stickers, emoji, and starting today video.”

Bob further notes that the feature is developed by the same group behind multimedia posts and Facebook Live Video. Facebook video comments feature is available on web, iOS and Android.

Facebook is increasingly focusing on video. The social media company unveiled a high-end virtual reality camera rig that captures 360-degree footage in 3D in April.
