The curtain fell on the lawmaking career of Herman Hembe, chairman of the House Committee on Capital Market, on Friday as the Supreme Court ruled that he was not the duly elected candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 election.

Here are some interesting facts about Hembe:

·        Prior to his election in 2007, Hembe had never practiced law, or worked in the public service and had no known business.

·        He graduated in 2001 from the Benue State University, Makurdi before going on to the Nigeria Law School.

·        Hembe hails from Mbakpor clan in Mbake council ward of Konshisha local government area area of Benue State.

·        He is the second of six children in in the family of the late Professor Godwin Nyor Hembe, who was a Political Science scholar at the Benue State University, Makurdi.

·        He was born in Zaria, Kaduna State on June 22, 1975.

·        He attended Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School Makurdi for his Senior School Certificate in 1992.

·        Hembe was elected into the National Assembly in 2007, and reelected in 2011.

·        Hembe sponsored some projects that bring succour to his constituents among which are the design and construction of a block of three classrooms with offices at Tsambe in Vandeikya local government area, electrification of Korinya-Wuese-Jov.

·        Donated of 20 computer sets with accessories to LGED Primary School Tian in Korinya, donation of 120 dual desks among other projects apart from the sponsorship of 14 bills to his credit.

·        Hembe and Aruma Oteh, former DG, Securities and Exchange Commission had a running battle over corruption.

·        He was also arraigned by the EFCC on corruption charges.
