Family Claims Buhari’s Govt Invited Maina To Join ‘Change Agenda’, Presidency Kicks

The Presidency has denied claims by the family of Abdulrasheed Maina that the ex-pension boss was invited back into the country by the Buhari administration to join its “change agenda”.

Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, described the allegations as “freshly-minted falsehood”.

Maina’s family had, in its reaction to the unfolding scandal surrounding the reinstatement of the ex-chairman of Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, said he was invited by current government to help it generate revenue.

“Abdulrasheed was in fact invited by this administration and he was promised security to come and clean up the mess and generate more revenue to government by blocking leakages.

“He succumbed to the present administration and came back to Nigeria. He has been working with the DSS for quite some time and he was given necessary security,” Maina’s family had said at a press conference in Kaduna State.

But reacting swiftly, Shehu refuted the claims by the family of the fugitive ex-pension boss.

“The claim that the Buhari administration invited the wanted Abdulrasheed Maina back into country is a freshly minted falsehood. Nobody should believe that.

“The family that made that claim simply wanted to be ridiculous. Please ignore them,” said the presidential spokesperson.
