Determined to quickly resolve the energy shortage currently experienced in Nigeria, the Government has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two private firms – Quaint Energy Resources and Access Power. The two firms have shown interest in harnessing the vast potential in solar energy in the country.

Quaint Energy Resources is partnering with Access Power to set up a 50MW solar power in Manchiok, Kaduna State in the vast acres of land already allocated by the Kaduna State Government.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, (Power), Amb. Godknows Igali, who was represented by a Director, Engineer Abayomi Adebisi, said that the Buhari led Administration is determined to guarantee greater access to electricity to Nigerians through solar sources.

This is premise on the fact that Government is desirous of creating alternative energy sources, especially solar, so as to have a robust energy mix. He assured that the sector is prepared to assist genuine private investors to tap into the vast investment opportunities in power generation through solar.

The Permanent Secretary said he is excited that the project will soon be inaugurated, hence he called on other investors to replicate such projects across the country especially in the North where we have abundant sun light.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of Quaint, Mr. Mobolaji Durodola promised to partner with Access Power in ensuring prompt delivery of the project. He also said that the project will go a long way in providing alternative energy to rural folks, thereby improving their standard of living.
