It took only 10 minutes for Brewster to get his first, latching onto an inch-perfect delivery from Chelsea midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi and finishing at the second attempt.

Wesley levelled for Brazil in the 21st minute, but England re-took the lead six minutes before the break, after Brewster converted from close range.

The Liverpool youngster completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute to take his tally to seven goals. He is now the competition’s top scorer.

England will play either Mali or their arch-nemesis Spain on Saturday in the final.
