FIFA President Congratulates Yobo

FIFA President, Gianni Infantino has applauded Joseph Yobo for his service to the sport, ahead of the former Super Eagles captain’s testimonial match slated for Friday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Infantino said this in response to a letter from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), informing the world football governing body of the upcoming event.

The letter which was addressed to NFF President Amaju Pinnick reads: “Many thanks for your letter dated May 17, 2016 and informing us of the testimonial match in honour of former international player and Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo.

“On this occasion, allow me to congratulate and send my best wishes to Joseph Yobo for his future activities.”

The testimonial game which is being put together by the Joseph Yobo Foundation in partnership with the Rivers State Government will be an occasion to celebrate a worthy son of the state who had a distinguished career.

International football stars are expected to grace the occasion at the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium, including JohnTerry, Samuel Etoo, Wayne Rooney, David Moyes, Kolo Toure and a host of others.

The game will feature a Team Joseph Yobo (comprising of Eagles’ players of Yobo’s generation) and a Rest of The World squad.
