FIFA Ranking: Eagles Maintain 41st Position

The Super Eagles of Nigeria retained the 41st position in the world in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, released by the world football governing body on Thursday.

Gernot Rohr’s side remained 7th in Africa, after playing no international game between the last ranking in February and this.

The ranking is based on international matches played over a four-year cycle, with more recent results carrying a greater weight than older ones.

Reigning African champions, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon moved up one spot from 33rd to 32nd. The five-time AFCON winners are now third behind Egypt and Senegal.

On the global scene, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Chile and Belgium maintained the top five places respectively, while France (6th) Colombia (7th) Portugal (8th) Uruguay (9th) and Spain (10th) make up the top 10.

Wales were the best placed home country in 12th spot, while England dropped one spot to 14th from last month.
