FIFA RANKING: Eagles Move Up

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed up one spot in the latest FIFA rankings for the month of February released on Thursday by the world football governing body.

Nigeria are now in 62nd place in the world and 11th in Africa.

In the continent, they are ranked behind Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Egypt, Congo DR, Congo and Cameroon – which completes the top ten teams in Africa.

Cape Verde surprised everyone as they moved up to 31st in the world and 1st in Africa.

Nigeria’s opponent in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Egypt, moved two places up to rank 53rd on the global scene and were placed seventh in Africa.

In the global scene, Belgium retain top spot as the football nation while Argentina, Spain, Germany and Chile complete the top 5.

The next Fifa world ranking will come up on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
