Defending Champions, Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, will face Australia in the second round of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
Emmanuel Amunike’s team finished top of group A with six points, after beating host Chile and the USA, while Australia finished third in Group C with four points.
The winner of the Nigeria-Australia tie will advance to the quarterfinals to face the winners of another quarterfinal between Brazil and New Zealand.
Speaking to Goal.com, former Golden Eaglets head coach, Alphonsus Dike urged the boys to forget about their loss to Croatia and fully concentrate on their match against Australia if they are to defend their title.
“Australia is their next opponent and they must be focused on them alone. It won’t be easy at all because they will also be eager to qualify too.
“The coaches should do their work and work on the psychology of the players. They should make them to forget about their last loss because all their energies and thoughts should be on Australia tie alone.”
The match will be played at midnight on Wednesday.
