Finally, Dream Team Get Camp Allowances

Nigeria U-23 team at the Rio Olympics have been paid their camp allowance for participating at the tournament, the ministry of Sports has said.

This was according to a media release signed by Nneka Anibeze, the Special Adviser on Media to the minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung, who added that each player received $1, 650 being allowances for 11 days.

However, the players are yet to be paid their win bonuses after recording victories against Japan and Sweden in Group B.

The minister, who is expected to be in Sao Paulo to cheer the Olympic Eagles in their next game against Colombia on Wednesday, assured the players that all their entitlements will be paid.

He stressed that the upfront payment was to ensure that the players remain focused and well-motivated.

“All your camp allowances have been budgeted for,” Dalung said. “There will be no story- telling during these games. You will get all your allowances and entitlements as we don’t want any distractions.

“We want you to remain focused, you have established that you’re great men and determined to conquer, despite all odds. There can’t be any other sacrifice more than this.”

The Dream Team will play their final group against Colombia at the Arena Corinthians on Wednesday.
