Football World Reacts To Manchester City’s EPL Title Triumph
Football journalists, supporters and fans around the globe took to the social media to praise Manchester City for winning the 2017/2018 English Premier League EPL.
City won their third EPL title in seven seasons, after second-place Manchester United were stunned 1-0 at home by West Bromwich Albion, on Sunday.
The Pep Guardiola side re-established a 16-point lead at the top of the table on Saturday when they ended a run of three successive defeats with a 3-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur and are now with only five games left to play.
City dominated the title race, scoring 93 goals and losing just twice.
Reactions from Journalists around the world:
“Manchester City’s collective effort has put them miles ahead of the rest and secured the title with five games to spare. This is one of the great Premier League teams.
“Manchester City have won big games. They have won at Manchester United. They have won at Tottenham. They have won at Chelsea and they have won at Arsenal. The away record of this team is unparalleled in Premier League history.” Sky Sports’ Adam Bate says.
“This title-winning Manchester City team WILL go down as one of the finest in English club football,” Andy Dunn of the Mirror says.
“The actual scale of the achievement is way down the pecking order — think of those that have won it against the odds: Nottingham Forest in 1977-78, right after coming up from the Second Division and Leicester a couple of seasons ago — but Man City have done it with a flair and adventure this generation of football followers have not seen.
“For the four decades I can properly remember watching football, there has been no title-winner who has played a more bewitching brand of football,” Dunn added.
“He has been vindicated this year. His is a triumph of ideas. He has not had to adapt to the Premier League; rather, the Premier League will now have to adapt to him.
Rory Smith of the New York Times while extoling City manager said: “He has exposed England’s avowed belief that it is different from every other league as a myth: it is just as susceptible to domination by an outstanding team as the Bundesliga, Serie A or La Liga. Guardiola’s method, his philosophy, works just as well here as everywhere else he has been.
“His vision has come to fruition; he has proved his ways work here, and work perfectly. He has spent almost two years making sure everything, every blade of grass, is just as it should be, making sure everything is in perfect condition for his ideas to flourish.”
All-conquering ?@ManCity have beaten all 19 of their #PL rivals this season – only the third time that a side has done so in a single campaign, after Chelsea in 2005/06 and Man Utd in 2010/11#Champions pic.twitter.com/usaaasuTe2

West Brom fans were singing “Manchester City, we did this for you”, which, first of all, is just odd. But secondly, when will fans learn not to align themselves with that lot? Sunderland poznan’d their title and look at where they are now. Enjoy the Championship, WBA ??

And with a transfer budget of under £1bn, amazing achievement ???

Don’t mind admitting the saltiness. Watching Spurs having to build slowly towards being competitive at the top table while City rocked up with an unlimited budget and twat everyone into submission is galling. That said, their football has been sublime this season. Deserved

Well deserved.
