For Many Celebrities, Plastic Surgery Is It

For some ladies, being “beautiful” is having a curvy body, light complexion, a pointed nose, flat tummy and a pair of hot legs.

Even though some believe the saying that “black is beautiful”, some others insist that light complexion brings about fame, success and makes them even more attractive.

This idea of beauty is no doubt Western, but many Nigerian celebrities are rapidly embracing it. The western idea of beauty and fashion as exemplified by the Hollywood industry is fast catching on here too.

All over the world, most women opt to have the sexiest body, at all cost even it’s having to go through the knife (plastic surgery), they strive to have a body that is perfect.

Many have gone to the extremes to “enhance” the features they already have, to possess the ideal society beauty by undergoing different surgeries and taking their bodies through dangerous points just to acquire a perfect body.

In a recent interview with Punch, A Nigerian soul singer, Waje was asked her view on plastic surgery. Waje, who was amazed about body enhancement said “I don’t have anything against body enhancement surgeries. If I can afford it, I may alter some parts of my body.”

The singer who threw more lights about her skin complexion said “I love my skin tone. Growing up, my mum enjoyed teasing me by saying I have ‘butter on my skin’ and I enjoyed it. I think I have a great skin so all I do now is ensure that I use a proper sunscreen cream to maintain my skin tone”.

Also, Karen Igho of Big Brother Africa, who was the first Nigeria celebrity to own up to have had a breast implant, said, “I’ve got fake boobs? I know. I did. Why should I hide it? It cost me over one million naira and I make good money with it”.

She further added that “investing in my boobs makes me happy and that’s all that counts. I don’t believe I have to be 40 with four kids and sagging breasts before I can get my dream boobs. I’m proud I was able to get the body I desired at 23. It’s the jet age. It’s like getting a Prada purse or buying a house-it makes you happy, so you invest on it. It was worth it. The most important thing is that I am happy about it, unlike most Nigeria celebrities and society women who after they have undergone cosmetic surgeries are ashamed to say so”.

There are also numerous celebrities who have been rumored to have undergone plastic surgeries such as Tiwa Savage. It was learnt that the singer recently got a nose job.

Actress Rukky Sandra twitted her picture after a Botox injection. She confirmed that her nose was done as well and said to her fans that plastic surgery is not a sin.

Caroline Danjuma, one of the hottest Nollyword actress and mother of three have been rumored to have had a butt implant after her appearance at the 2016 AMVCA. We all noticed a hug backside and possible breast enlargement.

Dr. Mofikoya, the Head Consultant, Plastic Surgeon said “specialists at LUTH practice all forms of plastic surgery, and that Nigerians are now more acquainted with plastic surgery such as nip and tuck and face lifting to remove wrinkles and other signs of aging from their faces.

Dr Chibuike, plastic Surgeon at POSH who also spoke to the Whistler said plastic surgery cost a handsome amount of money, and only the rich or financially comfortable could afford it.

He said the cost of plastic surgeries in Nigeria ranges from 2million to 5million for tummy tuck, butt implant and breast implant. He said face lifting and other surgeries to remove signs of aging from the face could cost about one million naira.
