FRSC Rakes In N1.6bn From Sanctions In 10 Months

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has generated about N1.6 billion between January and November, 2016, Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi told newsmen in Abuja On Wednesday.

Although the commission is not a revenue generating agency, Oyeyemi said that the FRSC was able to rake in the said sum through the commission’s patrol activities within ten months.

The FRSC boss, however, noted in a statement that the money has since been remitted to the consolidated federal account, otherwise known as the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

Oyeyemi, who thanked the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-governmental Affairs for their timely release of the 2016 budget, said that the release of funds helped the FRSC purchase more patrol vehicles, ambulances and tow trucks.

Acknowledging the good work of the FRSC boss and his team, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Tijani Kaura, cautioned staff of the commission to guarantee their safety while discharging their duties.

Kaura further urged officials of the FRSC to avoid being knocked down by reckless drivers on highways.
