Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has called on Arsenal fans to unify behind the team after a disastrous week which saw the Gunners fall 12 points behind in the title race.

Arsene Wenger’s side were beaten by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and lost a home fixture against Watford last week to ultimately dent the Gunner’s hopes of ending a 12-year wait for the Premier League title.

However the Frenchman has called on the club supporters to back the team, after some called for him to resign last week.

The Gunners boss, who was speaking in his Arsenal vs Hull pre-match press conference on Thursday said: “Our fans have been consistent and have a high level of expectation as I do but I don’t feel you can be a fan until last Tuesday and then not be behind the team any more.

“We are in a fight and we have to be united or we have no chance.

“Even if we have had two disappointed results I want the fans to be behind the team. Focus on what we do well. They were great players last Tuesday and they are still great players.”

Wenger who confirmed that the players had a meeting this week, added: “I believe what is important is that we focus on the next game and don’t give too much importance to one fan.

“It is a good opportunity to show what we are made of. We have a big fight in the Premier League and Champions League, we still have the FA Cup as well.

“Of course it has been a difficult week. We are here to win football games and when we don’t we are very disappointed.

“Ideally you want everybody to be happy but Arsenal is made of special strengths and one of those is to be united.”

Despite being 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea, with 14 games left, the Gunners boss effused to concede the league.

“It is never over,” Wenger said. “At least we have to behave like that If you think it is over, I don’t – we are in a pack that is tight.”
