Glo Signs Timaya, Dumps P-Square, Wizkid, Others As Brand Ambassadors

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Enetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya has joined the list of entertainers who serve as brand ambassadors for telecommunication giant, Globacom.

A statement from the company said that the Bayelsa State-born star and founder of DM Records was recently signed as one of its brand ambassadors.

According to the statement, Globacom considered the dancehall artist due to his diligence, creativity and success in the music industry, adding that he has been a source of inspiration to millions of youth across the country.

Timaya joins other accomplished stars as Patience Ozokwor, popularly called Mama G, Omawumi, Ego, Yvonne Nelson, Nadia Buhari, MI., Basketmouth, Bovi Ugboma, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Hadizah Blell (Di’ja) who are Glo ambassadors. Other accomplished personalities include Funke Akindele, Ime Bishop, Odunlade Adekola, Bovi, Bimbo Oloyede, Ego Ogbaro and Flavour, among others.

In 2006, Globacom introduced the idea of celebrating entertainers and endorsing them as brand ambassadors, and since then has invested billions into them.

However, a few days back, there was a major downsizing of Glo ambassadors, with the likes of Wizkid, P-Square, Wande Coal, Sammy Okposo and Burna Boy affected dropped and replaced with others.

Timaya has won many awards including the Nigerian Music Award and four Headies Awards has also been a Peace Ambassador for the Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP) since 2011.
